Design Effect International were appointed to give Random House a unique identity relevant to what they do. We had to create a space that was not only current in terms of the trends, but the look needed to be future proofed and continue to turn heads 10 years after completion. Being a publishing house, we chose to introduce elements that were recognizable and related to books. Ideas such as “suspended glass leaves” representing leaves within a book and a subtle use of letters on wall paper and on doors. We designed the main gate using printers blocks, beautifully fitted within an intricate steel framework. DEI created a space that was an extension of home and an environment that was inspirational to the staff that would use it.
